- What did you do about the existing, external, com1 serial port.
- That could be a source of your problems.

- Also, computers don't have a specific "com1 slot" if by that you mean
- a particular expansion slot on the motherboard. The modem can be in
- any slot the port it uses is determined by dip switches or jumpers on
- the board.
